I was raised in Kingston, Ontario by two loving parents, alongside a very talented sister.

I moved to Ottawa in 1994 to study and never left. I received my B.A. in Philosophy and in French as a Second Language from the University of Ottawa. I also hold a diploma in Television Broadcasting and in 2010 I completed my M.A. in Public Ethics (Philosophy).

I am married to a wonderful man and I have the best step-son anyone could ever want.

I made the decision to become a Humanist Officiant following a lot of consideration. I had struggled for a number of years about the contribution I wanted to make to my humanist community. I am not an activist and my life has been quite full with professional and personal commitments and I was not sure where I could fit in. However, I knew that I wanted to live my humanist values and somehow contribute to the community around me that supports a secular life.

When I heard about the Officiant program, I immediately thought it was something I could do. I love public speaking and I believe there is value in celebrating life’s milestones -whether or not you are religious. I am proud to be able to offer secular wedding services that are inclusive, respectful, and personal.

The first wedding I performed was for my dearest friend and it made me realize that helping couples with their special day is an honour and a privilege and is something I hope to do for a long, long time.

I have been a member of the Humanist Association of Ottawa for over 10 years and became a licensed Humanist Officiant in the Province of Ontario in 2009.
